13 days

It's hard to believe that Asher has been here for almost two weeks. In so many ways the days have been a blur, my time marked by feedings and diaper changes and stolen naps. My favorite moments are those when Josh and I just watch him, marveling in every facial expression, every gaze, every perfect little body part.

Already Asher is growing and changing, and I find it exciting and heartbreaking all at once. Just 13 days after his birth, his arms and legs have a few more rolls, and his tummy is a little rounder. We're getting to know each other better; he's teaching me how he needs to be mothered, and I'm doing my best to catch on and keep up.

We're taking in every moment of his smallness--every newborn gaze, every milky smile, every cradled sleep.

Because 13 days from now, he'll be different from how he is today, and I don't want to miss anything.

Wow, it's seems like you were just bemoaning your endless pregnancy and now he's 13 days old!! How did that happen?

This was beautiful. Charlotte, you are amazing, and I know you are an incredible mother, just because the way you have lived your life. I loved how you wrote this with your journey inter-weaved with the birth story. I am so glad that after much worry, little Asher is here. So touching.

Oh Dear. Where have I been?! You and Josh and Asher have been in my thoughts and prayers. I just tonight, no matter how tired I felt, told myself that I cannot go one more night without seeing this little man! He is beautiful and perfect! I am so happy for you and know you will be a perfect mother. You have had the examples of your mother, your grandmother and your nieces. Go motherhood! He is so darling. I will try to keep up with the growth reports!

I'm excited for you and your mom for tomorrow's meeting! xoxoxo
